The Masters Greatest Shots
Gene
Sarazen holes from 220 yards
Needing
to birdie three of the last four holes to force a play-off in
the 1935 Masters. On the 15th, with 220 yards to the hole, Sarazen's
caddie recommended a 3-wood to clear the water and reach the highly
guarded green. Deciding instead to play a 4-wood, Sarazen holed
the shot, and then went on to win the play-off the next day.
Larry Mize chips in at the second play off hole
A local
pro from Georgia, Larry Mize holed an outrageous chip on the 11th
hole to win on the second play-off hole of the 1987 Masters, and
once again force the unlucky Greg Norman to second place.
Sandy
Lyle's 7-iron from the bunker on the 18th
Having
put his 1-iron from the tee "for safety" into the fairway
bunker, Lyle needed to get down in two from 150-yards to win the
1988 Masters. Selecting his 7-iron, he put the shot just past
the pin and sunk the putt for the birdie he needed.
